Q: Do you receive any government funds for either of your rescue centers?
A: No, we get no funding from either the Bolivian or US governments. Funds come from individuals, tour proceeds, or support from the local community of Padcaya.
Q: Why do you have only cougars and jaguars at your wildlife rescue center?
A: These are the remaining felines at the Tarija Zoo; however, we believe the need to accept more cats will increase in the future as other zoos determine to place their cats in a more natural setting or from wildlife confiscations.
Q: Why are the domestic animals not adoptable?
A: We do have adoptable domestic animals but have chosen to highlight those that can't be adopted due to age, medical condition, or attitude.
Q: Why don't you send the big cats to a US zoo or sanctuary instead of maintaining them in Bolivia?
A: The main reason we don't do that is that Bolivia prohibits the removal of native animals to a foreign country. And the other reasons are the logistics and expense associated with such a move and the willingness of a US-based facility to accept them.
